New Album Announcement

Steven and pianist Connie Shih’s much-anticipated new album ‘1851’ has now been released, featuring sonatas by Robert Schumann and Ignaz Moscheles.
The album brings together two remarkable sonatas from 1851:
- Robert Schumann’s astonishing Violin Sonata No. 2, Op. 121, one of the composer’s most monumental works – arranged for cello and piano by Steven
- Ignaz Moscheles’s Cello Sonata in E major, also Op. 121, and dedicated to Schumann – a genial, loveable work too rarely heard today.
Coupled with shorter works by Schumann, Ferdinand David (the dedicatee of the Schumann sonata and Bach/Gounod, the famous Ave Maria, also featuring the Gesualdo Six.
Listeners can enjoy a sneak-peek: a movement from the Moscheles Cello Sonata in E major (Op. 121) is available as a sample.
