Concert for Humanity
On December 20th 2023, a Concert for Humanity took place in a sold-out Berlin Philharmonie. Organised by the pianist Iddo Bar-Shai and the Berlin Philharmonic orchestra, it featured speeches from Israeli and Palestinian peace activists, and a duet between Palestinian and Israeli artists – a moving occasion. Steven took part, opening the concert with the first movement of Schumann’s piano quintet, with Martha Argerich, Guy Braunstein, Christian Tetzlaff and Gerard Caussé, and guest-leading the cello section of the Berlin Philharmonic orchestra under Kirill Petrenko in a performance of Bruch’s Kol Nidrei, witht eh solo violist of the orchestra, Amihai Grosz, as soloist. Steven also performed Bloch’s Prayer with Iddo Bar-Shai. The concert is available to watch online for free on Berlin Phil’s Digital Concert Hall.
